An absolute haven of peaceful seclusion and quiet relaxation

Our cottage accommodation is the ultimate relaxation retreat, comprising three private and luxurious one bedroom cottages set amidst a walnut grove with lush, park-like woodland, tussock and hosta gardens, mature shady trees, spacious lawns and views over rural scenes to the mountains beyond.

Thank you so much for your great hospitality.  We arrived exhausted and frazzled after enduring 15 months of earthquakes and leave rejuvenated.  Burn Cottage was just the retreat we desperately needed and we would love to stay for much longer.  All the little details of luxury were much appreciated.  Highly recommended.  Katie and James, Christchurch, NZ

Each spacious cottage is decorated in warm earthy tones creating a light and airy feel.  Peaceful rural, garden and mountain views and french doors opening out onto a spacious deck area with gas barbecue and carport make the outdoor area a great location to read, enjoy a morning coffee or a glass or two of your favourite tipple while basking in glorious Central Otago sunshine! It's also a perfect spot from which to observe our fabulous starry night skies, watch the birdlife or the antics of our small mob of pet sheep.

A luxurious king size bed with fine bed linen and electric blanket ensure a great night's sleep. Our guests frequently sleep in past check-out time because it is so incredibly quiet here! Isn't that the point of being on holiday?

The ensuite bathrooms feature a huge tiled shower, heated towel rail, complimentary toileteries, fluffy bath towels and fabulous water pressure!

Double glazing ensures the cottages are very quiet and a gas fire creates a welcoming, toasty ambience during the cooler months.

A spacious and fully equipped kitchen area with fridge freezer, 4 element cooktop and microwave is complimented by a dining/lounge area with leather furniture, Freeview TV, DVD player, DVD library and a selection of books and magazines for your reading pleasure.

The cottages are an open plan style with large bifold windows in both the dining and bedroom areas so our guests can experience the clean, fresh Otago air and sunshine.  The cottages are several metres apart from one another, well landscaped to ensure privacy and each one faces a different direction so you will hardly know the other cottages exist.

A fresh bowl of walnuts from our Meyric walnut grove is provided in the cottages and guests are encouraged to explore the hosta gardens and fields. During summer months our guests can select fresh vegetables from the guest vegetable garden (pictured below right) and pick fresh fruit from the orchard. Walking about the gardens you will also find rhubarb, chives, watercress, mint and parsley to pick.

All cottages have complimentary tea and coffee provisions, iron and ironing board, washing basket and hairdryers. A separate guest laundry and clothesline are located close to the cottages for your convenience.

Cottage guests are encouraged to bring their own provisions or Rose can supply a generous continental breakfast hamper with local produce.  Each cottage has it's own gas barbecue which is great for summer cooking, but if you don't feel like it, the local restaurants, cafes, orchards and wineries serve the finest regional fare and award winning local wines. 

Our cottages are located 3km from the Cromwell town centre and Lake Dunstan and are within walking distance of the region's finest vineyards and stone fruit orchards.

Our central location just off the Wanaka to Queenstown highway means our guests can enjoy easy day trips to Clyde, Alexandra, Lake Hawea, Wanaka, Arrowtown and Queenstown and beyond.

The Otago Central Rail Trail is 25 minutes away in Clyde and there are five ski fields within an hour's drive, making us the perfect destination at any time of year.

Our cottages are a favourite hideaway for a romantic getaway, honeymoon, a winter ski holiday or for those just wanting a well earned quiet break.

Pets

Our policy is that pets are not permitted in our cottages.  At quiet times we may consider allowing well behaved, socially acceptable dogs to stay, provided they remain outside at all times and sleep in your vehicle at night.

Children

As our cottages have been designed and built as a quiet retreat for adults, we regretfully advise they are not suitable for toddlers or young children.  We are able to accommodate babies (if parents provide their bedding requirements) and children over 12 years of age.

Smoking

Our cottages are a smoke free environment however our guests are welcome to smoke outside.
